KDE Rewards Best Practices

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) this week presented 16 awards for best practices to schools and districts during the 2024 Continuous Improvement Summit. Honorees from Fayette County Public Schools were:

  • Lafayette High School, for Equity Evaluation of Title I Funds
  • Bryan Station Middle School, for Restructuring In-School Suspension to Improve Student Practice
  • Harrison Elementary, for Building Teacher Effectiveness through an Instructional Coaching and Feedback Cycle
  • William Wells Brown Elementary, for Guiding Coalition and Task Force

Each winner received a $500 check to be used for school improvement.

The summit, which was Sept. 23-24 at the Central Bank Center, allowed attendees to invest in their growth as a leader and a teacher and offered strategies to make a difference in their work and in their students’ experiences.

In 2013, KDE launched the Best Practices and Sustainability website  as a clearinghouse to promote practices that motivate, engage, and provide measurable results in student learning, achievement, and school/district processes.
